Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with a consultation to assess the client's level of need. From there, we work together to schedule a plan of attack & get to work!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With over 30 years of Creative & Theatrical experience, there isn't any situation that I haven't run into. I've premiered in 90+ productions with numerous theatrical companies & entertainment entities throughout the Midwest, including Cornerstone Productions, ETA Creative Arts Foundation, Black Ensemble Theatre, Chocolate Chips Theatre Company, Theatre At The Center, Big Noise Theatre Company, HoperaWorld Ent, Fine Print Theatre Co., Half/Bloc Entertainment, PUSH Films, Orion's Belt Films, New Faces Global, Actors Theatre Grand Rapids, Jewish Theatre Grand Rapids, Ebony Road Players , PANORAMA Arts & ADAPT. Theatre Company.
I've also had the great honor of sharing spaces with some amazingly talented celebrities & personalities including Oprah Winfrey, the late Maya Angelou, Keith David, Jackie Taylor, the late Margaret Burroughs, the late Abena Joan Brown, Taraji P. Henson, Dr. Phil McGraw, Nora Brooks Blakely, Haki Madabuti, Jos A. Banks, Chester Gregory, Deanna K. Reed, Felicia P. Fields, Lori Jacobs, Donica Lynn, Bob Love of The Chicago Bulls, Gospel Icons Ricky Dillard & New G & Country Icons, The Judds.
I have a touring one man production (Til The World Blow Up!: A Southside Love Story) & have serves as the lead vocalist of the Chicago-based band, "Wilson Wilson" & was the most recent Artistic Director of PANORAMA Arts.

How did you get started teaching?
EVERY STORY HAS A BEGINNING. I first began as a teacher working through the Chicago Park District's Summer Arts Programming (a program created through Free Street Programs). After that, my hands on, one-on-one experience began working through Black Ensemble Theatre, ETA Creative Arts Foundations & Chocolate Chips Theatre Company (now Brooks Permissions) all located within the City of Chicago.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with every kind of person in every kind of aspect of Artistry. HOW CAN I HELP YOU?!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This past summer, I spent time in NH performing with Seacoast Repertoire Theatre in their productions of RENT, Rocky Horror, Sweeeney Todd and The Crucible!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
1. Know that you're ready and this is what you want to do.
2. Humility is EVERY actor's best friend. Be ready to be humble.
3. You are your only limitation.
4. Rejection is imminent. Don't expect overnight success.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Level of Severity: Rejection is a byproduct of the world of Entertainment. How seriously driven are you to perform in this field?
2. Setting a Timeline: What is your current goal in this pursuit? What is your Ultimate goal?
3. Level of Desire: Why do you want to do this?
