About

I have been a musician for over 50 years. I play Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Bass, Mandola and Octave Mandolin and a bunch of other stuff.

I have four albums out on CD as well as streaming on iTunes and Spotify.

Check me out at: www.eddykay.com

I think being a professional musician is self evident.

    Frequently asked questions

My approach depends on the level of the student.  I use the 'position' method of teaching rather than music theory.  With position training you can be up and running much faster.

If you would like to learn written music theory for classical mandolin, I am not the teacher you are looking for.

I have had my own Training Company for over 20 years. The Eddy Kay Group.  I am an expert in transfering information from me to you

I closed the Eddy Kay Group five years ago to bulid a recoding studio.

I am $30 per lesson.  Lessons can run from 30 minutes to an hour or so, if there is time.

Because I'm a player, people ask me for lessons.

Mostly beginners.  They're my favorite because they are so enthusiastic.   Advance players already know what I know.  They don't need me.

I just did a concert for the Bloomfield Township Library.  Standing room only with a standing ovation at the end.  Great fun.

Find a teacher who will teach you what YOU want to learn, not what his course book says you should learn.

Make sure you know what you want.  Otherwise you have to take what they give you.   Ask if you can video the lesson.  You will not remember the lesson by the time you get home.
