What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I love working with new students! When you first come in I start out with a tour so you are familiar with the studio. After the tour we sit down for second so we can get to know you and see what your interested in learning. Then it's right to the dancefloor! We break down the basics in a way that is simple and fun and play music to get you familiar with what kind of music you will hear on any dancefloor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been a dancer in the Michigan community for 12 years! I'm certified teacher and dancer in smooth and rhythm. I've been a teacher for 7 years.
How did you get started teaching?
My mentor and high school counselor helped me get my first teaching job at 20 years old.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds! My students are a range of young and mature, Athletes, musicians, former dancers, LGBTQ+, people who never danced before to people who danced all their lives, people with disabilities such as autism or they are in a wheelchair or they are visually impaired, doctors, engineers, couples getting married and people who want to dance for themselves and dont have a partner. Everyone is welcome!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who listens!!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Honestly, nothing! Dance is all about fun and expression. If you have the urge or curiosity to learn but dont know what you want to learn, your teacher should be able to help reccomend dances that fit your music taste and personality.
