I've been teaching drums for over 30 years. I started teaching at Detroit Drum School at 15 years old. My students range from beginner to master. Some key moments in my drumming career are: winning the DCI Snare Championship in 1991; teaching the kids that participated in the movie "DRUMLINE"; being the featured soloist in the play "DRUMLINE LIVE"; performing as the drummer in Whitney Houstons last movie "Sparkle". My experience has allowed me to teach and develop some awesome people in the drumming world and I look forward to having the opportunity to continue via LESSON.COM.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process would be 1st making sure that they know how to hold the drumsticks. Then I would start with teaching rudimentary drumming and music notation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing in Drum Corps at 5 years old and aged out at 21. I had the rare honor of winning 1st place in the DCI Individual Snare Drum Competition. Taught and performed in the musical "Drumline Live". Band Director and Percussion Instructor for Lathrup High School. Performed as the drummer in Whitney Houstons last movie "Sparkle". Currently performing as a professional musician in Metro- Detroit.
