We teach only flamenco at our school. Our classes are accompanied by live guitar. Our instructor, Kristina de Sacramento has been teaching for over 25 years, and spends a month in Spain every year keeping up to date on what's happening with flamenco in the land of its creation. Kristina is a patient and intelligent teacher, and she enjoys the challenge of figuring out the unique way that each person learns, and then teaching to them in "their own language." Kristina loves teaching, and her students love her.
Flamenco is a passionate art form in its musical and physical expression. Anda's guitarists, dancers and singer consider themselves most fortunate to spend their lives sharing the beauty and energy of flamenco performance with Minnesotans. At Anda's School, whether a student wants to merely gain exposure in order to become a more knowledgeable flamenco fan, or whether they want to commit 100% to becoming a professional performer, they will find expert guidance, training and support.
Kristina is the most generous of teachers. She shares all of her flamenco knowledge - the history, cante, music, compas, technique - giving her students a greater understanding of this art form. Kristina has the ability to determine how her individual students learn and modify her teaching method to suit them. Her classroom is a welcoming and safe environment for learning, and her warm heart and sense of humor make her classes all the more enjoyable.
As a student of Kristina de Sacramento for the past nine years, I can attest to her excellent teaching. Kristina knows more than just choreography; she understands the music and cante (song) of flamenco. Anda is a vibrant, welcoming community of dancers and musicians. Both the company and students are given frequent opportunities to perform during the course of a year.
Kristina's teaching is a wonderful combination of not only Flamenco technique and choreography, but the history, structure, dynamics, role of the cante, how it fits the music and dance. I could go on. All in a welcoming atmosphere. Kristina firmly believes that everyone and anyone with an interest can participate in and experience the rich, passionate, expressive, and fun! art of Flamenco! She definitely makes it possible!
I have studied with Anda Flamenco for almost 6 years. The artistic director, Kristina de Sacramento, is a fabulous teacher. She is patient, inclusive, and always encouraging. She brings her 35 years of studying and performing authentic Flamenco to every class through her learned choreographies and entertaining stories. Her studio is awesome! Large sprung wood floor, many mirrors, natural lighting, and a dressing room. Everyone, including two guitarists, are super friendly with support to always improve my dancing. My only regret is that I waited too long to find and study with her.
