Hey beautiful people! My name is Teyaira & I specialize in the art of stepping. 🥾
Stepping is a unique craft in which individuals or teams can create amazing sounds, rhythms and beats using their bodies as instruments. 🤗
The art of stepping is mainly practiced in African or African-American culture, however can be practiced by absolutely anyone who is willing to learn step and its both simple & complex intricacies.
Step can be taught at both beginner and advanced levels and is an intense source of fitness. 💪🏽
Stepping challenges your memory, precision and is an extremely unique style of dance that offers the opportunity to stimulate your mind by learning something completely new. 🧠
Step also allows you to express your love for music, rhythms or beats without having to get out the speakers! 😱
The beauty in the craft is that you create your own music as your instrument is your physical body.
YOU ARE THE MUSIC! 💃🏽🎶
This allows you to tune into yourself and the inner wisdom that your body holds. ✨
My history:
Step has been part of who I am for well over 10 years. ☺️
I have poured so much time, sweat and passion into perfecting my craft and I am so HYPE to spread the passion and love that I have for stepping with you as an expert. 👩🏽🏫
I started stepping around age 7, however I began to take it seriously at age 13 when I joined my high school step team.
I quickly proved myself to that team and as a result, I moved up to co-captain and shortly after that I became captain up until I finished high school.
I was on the team all four years of high school and loved it so much that I decided to come back as coach after I graduated.
I coached for a year, then I became an independent instructor and choreographer for local steppers or step teams in my area.
I have been teaching independently for the last 5 years and plan to continue! 🤗
I also have experience in a few other forms of dance such as hip-hop, ballet, jazz and modern; I’ve been a dancer my whole life! 👯♀️
I’ve coached hip-hop classes for toddlers, elementary students and adults, and I currently teach dance in my own business.
