"Baseball is Life." In terms of resilience alone I have to agree with that quote. I offer a fun, affordable, safe clinic where young catchers can learn their position, further develop their skills, and grow into confident players. Present skill level isn't the issue--effort and attitude are. As long as a player wants to learn and brings the right gear, we're in business. Everything else they need as catchers is what I provide. Safety is paramount. I teach players to always wear all their protective gear and to understand why that matters. We spend focused time on arm care, hip mobility, warmups, and cooldowns that keep their developing

I played four years at D3 Macalester College, where I set three school records. I also played two years D1 University of St. Thomas.

I’m 74. when I was a kid growing up in a rural farmer’s area, we loved to play baseball above anything else, but were very short on having coaches who could teach us the fundamentals of baseball. Kids with the passion and great desire to play good baseball, could not achieve their potential due to the lack of baseball knowledge provided to them. So although I was a very good catcher, I wasn’t so good at hitting, which I so much desired to be. Years later, though, I played “senior baseball (35+)” and had the great privilege of finally learning the core skills of hitting from D1 and Triple A baseball players who played on the team. Ho

I'm a former AAA baseball player from Venezuela. Who grew up playing street ball and it wasn't until I was 13 I got into organized baseball. At 15 I was playing for the KC Royal farm school and at 17 for the Cleveland Indians. I move to Steven Point WI to learn English as a second language. Then transferred to Superior WI where I got my degree in Transportation and Logistics. Now I'm a married man with 4 wonderful kids ranging from 14 to 4. I love baseball, and now tha my two youngest sons are getting into it I could not be happier. I helped coach the Minneapolis Millers AAA a few years back. Now I'm coaching my 8 year's old little league's t

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Coach Douge's love of the game, knowledge and teaching philosophies are exceptional. My grandson is almost 10 and JUST started the game of baseball. Tom created lessons to meet my son where is was and helped him improve in all areas. So much that his coaches mentioned that my son’s game was now on a higher level than the previous season. Selfishly I don’t want him to get too busy and he’s a great coach. I would highly recommend.
