I believe that each person holds unique ingredients -physical, vocal, emotional and experiential - that enable them to bring a character to life in a compelling and believable way. Accessing and accepting oneself along with growing both courage and skill is the life's work of an actor.
I thrill to watch my students accomplish something they felt was beyond their reach. Many people dream of things but never have the courage to try. I work with students that have come to believe in the hidden agendas that keep them from ever taking the first step towards a dream.
My true passion is Shakespeare... not that everyone will be a Shakespearean actor, mind you. However, the skills required to navigate a piece of classical text transfers to any other area of work an actor attempts. Shakespeare is raw, gritty, emotionally dangerous, highly physical, comedic, heart wrenching, socially relevant, and deeply human. Once you develop a few basic skills in analyzing the text, the entire world opens up!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find it most helpful to me and my new student if we establish:
1)reasons for wanting to pursue lessons and
2)set some attainable goals to help measure progress and build confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my B.S. in Theater Performance and Directing and my M.A. in Communication. I completed graduate studies at Oxford university in Shakespeare and classical text.
