Back in 2012 when our instructors started teaching, we noticed a need for high quality music education in the form of not just knowledge but patience and understanding for all our students. Up With The Lark Music Lessons helps foster a love of music. Our academy is the premiere home school music music academy in KC that provides high quality music lessons to Kansas City, Missouri and the surrounding areas. We also provide Zoom lessons to students and families across the country. Each of our instructors has a Bachelors or Masters Degree in music performance and education from top universities. Each with more than 12 years of experience in the business.
With Home lessons, We travel to your home for 1:1 music lessons as affordable group lessons. Our instructors teach piano, voice, percussion and guitar. Visit the testimonials page for reviews of past lessons. It has been operating in various locations since 2012.
In addition to serving the community through a love of music, each of our instructors has 10+yr experience in serving the neurodivergent community. We understand that patience, understanding, kindness and the human connection is what connects us through our passion and enthusiasm of music.

Drums:
-Proper technique when holding the drum sticks
-Knowledge and execution of the 40 Percussive Arts International Society Rudiements.
-Listening for specific rhythms
-Knowledge of many styles and rhythms across the world.
-Drum set Preparation for All-Region and All-State
auditions, as well as for college auditions.
-Playing along to songs.
Guitar:
-Proper technique when holding guitar and pushing fingers down on the fret board.
-Scales and Chords
-Ear Training regarding common chord progressions in pop music
-How to hold a steady beat while playing guitar riffs.
-Playing along to songs.
Piano:
-Proper technique with fingers when playing the piano.
-Learning how to read music in both treble and bass clef.
-Ear training regarding melodic intervals and chords.
-Major and Minor scales with cross overs, hands in unison for keyboard dexterity.
-Playing Along to songs.
Voice:
-How to produce a clear and full tone
-How to stay on pitch
-Sining along to favorite songs
-Ear training with identifying musical ascending and descending melodic intervals in songs.
-Voice Preparation for All-Region and All-State
auditions, as well as for college auditions.
-Singing along with songs.
