About

Law Studio of Music began in 2007 when several of the students where I was teaching full time expressed interest in private lessons. It has grown and evolved over the years and I have taken different posts as a Vocal/Choral/Piano instructor.

As time went on I realized that the most fun I have as a teacher and a musician is in one-on-one lessons with private students. Nothing is more rewarding than helping a student reach their personal goals.

I have a mix of school-aged and adult students. In our lessons we cover any style of music that you could think of. Nothing is off the table (except maybe yodeling—but even then, I’ll try!).

My students have different reasons for taking lessons. For many, it is simply because they love to sing or want to learn to play the piano, and scheduling a lesson ensures that they will make the time each week. Some students are working toward an audition, or want to achieve a level of ability that allows them to play or sing their favorite song. For everyone, we focus on healthy technique, reading music, and style.

Frequently asked questions

Your voice lessons will be catered to your interests. One of the first things I will ask is, “What do you want to be able to do?” I’ll give you an analysis of what I see and hear, and guide you on your way to healthier technique.

For most people, there are habits to unlearn that are causing tension and straining your sound, sometimes making singing uncomfortable. I’m here to give you the tools you need to enjoy singing and give you a solid foundation of technique.

Singing technique is not perfected overnight. As singers, we can’t see our instrument, so the process of learning what sounds right and what feels right can be very abstract. Over time, the basics of good singing will become instinctive, and you’ll build healthy singing habits that will give you the flexibility to sing anything you want.
