About this pro

I have been coaching for 6 years primarily out of the Morrisville / Cary area, working with a wide array of children and adults.  I have taken kids from never hitting a tennis ball to playing in Junior Team Tennis and emphasize heavily on positive mental and emotional attitude when playing along with proper technique and footwork.

Tennis is great sport that can learned at any age. I enjoy see the progress and the look of happiness when a kid hits there first ball over or when an adult starts to master a shot like the serve.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first lesson will be very basic, it is more of a me getting to know you.  I will view your hand eye coordination, footwork, and overall understanding for the game.  I believe in positive reinforcement and goal setting, and discussing goals and benchmarks that we can set.

How did you get started teaching?

I started playing when I was 7 years old, I was taught by my mother who was taught by my grandfather.  It is a huge family sport that I one day hope to teach to my children.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

One of my students came to me a year and half ago, barely able to hold a racquet.  Early this March 2017, he made his junior varsity school team while being in 7th grade.  While the vast majority of the progress came from his hard work, I am very proud of being able to coach him to that point.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

I think that any questions a student has, regardless of age should be asked.  I think a great question which I would love to hear more is "what can I do outside of lessons".  There are a lot of things you can do to further your tennis that do not require being on the court.  (I am a big believe in cross training and doing other actions to help develop muscle memory)
