Tennis Success
About
I am a certified USPTA Professional and I am exactly that... a professional. This is what I do and love to do. I've been teaching tennis for 22 years, and playing for, well... a long time. I am extremely passionate about teaching all aspects of tennis, from strokes and footwork to tactics, court positioning, strategy and the mental game.
When teaching, I love to see the "lightbulb go on" when a student "gets it". Their feeling of doing it right for the first time is unforgettable. It's what keeps me coming back, year after year to serve my students.
I am extremely customer service oriented, and try to be a complete, full-service provider. I pride myself on being the most flexible regarding lesson scheduling, court location and other special services I offer, such as racket selection, stringing and equipment recommentations.
I have taught tennis for more than 22 years in southern California, south Florida and here in the RDU area for the past four years. Over this time, I have created a flexible, customized system that is effective for nearly every student I teach.
A teacher at heart, I love the process of teaching and learning. I approach every lesson as a personal challenge to find the one thing that, if fixed, will produce the best and fastest possible results.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As we warm up together, we exchange our background information, talking about our experience with tennis. We ask the student what their goals and expectations are and explain how we teach and what they can expect from the lessons.
We then do a short stroke evaluation, identifying the key issues to be addressed and explain to the student what we've seen and how we would approach correcting the problem.
Then, we start the process of correcting the problem or teaching a new stroke or pattern, scaffolding the process by chunking up the information into progressions, slowly building up to where the student can begin perform the task properly.
We give and encourage feedback from the student, making corrections, giving explanantions and answering questions throughout the process.
Last, we identify the key takeaways to focus the practice and the drills that work those key issues. We emphasize the importance of correct practice as the best way to master the task.
Then, rinse and repeat!
