FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We offer a free sample private lesson to come in and check it out. Private lessons are usually $65/lesson and we do offer free group lessons and practice parties for those that are on private lesson programs (such as: Lifestyle startup program, Bronze, Silver, Gold.) For those who want to take group classes only, group classes are $10/single $15/couple. Practice party sessions are $10/single $15/couple.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our instructors are certified by a professional certified dance judge (John King) in the American Ballroom Dance Club, and Americas Ballroom Dance Schools cirriculum. We also have an extensive video library of showcases, dance challenges, and instructional and cirriculum videos.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Our regular tuition is $99/lesson if you purchase one lesson at a time. We discount all programs to $65/75 a lesson. The difference is what we call a continuation discount. By knowing how many lessons we owe you, we can determine what is learnable in that period of time. Rounding off all rough edges so that once you have gone through the process of our system, you'll have learned something you can hold on to.

How did you get started teaching?

Started as a Fred Astaire dance studio instructor in 1979. Graduated training class in Memphis, TN.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages and dance levels. Students with various handicaps.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Hickory Showcase and Dance Challenge. All students attending were challenged to become better dancers in preparation for all levels of dancing and showcase perfromances.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Full time instructors tend to be at the top of their game. They have a wider range of expertise, they are used to working with schedules, making it easy for you to attend. A sample lession is always a good introduction to any potential instructor.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Schedule: mornings, afternoons or evenings and weekdays or weekends?
