Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess each student in the class and work on strengthening their skills through monologues, scene work, and character development depending on which class they take.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School in New York. I've been training actors since 2008.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Classes are $150 and cover the entire 8 week session. Classes meet once a week for an hour and half.
Acting Intensives are $700 and cover the 9 week session. The Intensive meets 4 days a week. 6 hours on the week-days and 10 hours on the week-ends.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all typed of students. Some have had natural ability others trying to discover their talent. I've worked with as young as 14 and as old as 60. I believe that everyone has an ability to act, the trick is allowing yourself be be vulnerable so the emotion can come through.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently finished our Winter Intensive. Except for one student, I had all inexperienced actors and they put on a wonderful end-of-session production. I was proud of their hard work and it showed. They all commented that they learned a lot from the Intensive.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do research on the theatre where you want to train. Learn about their instructors. Ask questions. Don't pick the first person you talk to. Get all information and then make an informed decision.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The biggest thing the should think about is the time committment needed. Taking one acting class is not going to make you a working actor. It can take years of determination and perserverance to get where you want to go. The acting business is a fickle thing and you need to be strong and confident if you're going to survive the process of making it in the field of acting.
