Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We truly believe in getting to know the student first. We usually start out by asking them how much dance training have they had. Students do not have to have any dance training to start classes here. We welcome dance students old and new...we especially love helping students discover their love and talent for dance!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Princess Johnson - the Founder - is a graduate of UNCG with a degree in Dance Studies and Small Business Management. She also was an adult dance student at Richmond Ballet. She has taught dance professionally since 2008. She also taught when she was in middle school and choreographed for a dance group in college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our drop-in rate for adult dance classes is $12 per class.
Tuition for one month of dance classes for children and adults interested in performance is $52/month.
We also offer private dance lessons for up to 4 guests it cost $20 for 30 minutes and $40 for an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I always loved dance and wanted to be a teacher when I grow up. I also started entrepreneurship classes when I was in 6th grade - so naturally I decided to open a dance studio. I went to college for it and landed my first job teaching dance a year after graduation. I open my business 2 years after graduating.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginner to advanced students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For your safety, the teacher should have a space that is equipped for dance with hard sprung dance floors. Do not dance on concrete or tile floor. It is bad for the knees. Your teacher should also have extensive dance vocabulary and warm you up before starting any technique.
