I love passing along the joy of music to those interested in learning this wonderful art form. After so many years teaching in all areas at all levels, I enjoy drawing from those experiences and teaching materials to offer the best and most FUN musical experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work with each student at his/her own individual level. I draw from my 35 years experience as educator and have an extensive library from which to draw from. Solos, Duets, Band Methods and more.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BM in Music Education from Berklee College of Music. Masters in music from North Carolina Central University. 35 + years teaching young and adult. Public schools, college and private studio. Professional performing musician playing Raleigh area drums and flute.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At the studio: 30 minutes: $25. 60 minutes: $50.
Travel: 45 minutes: $45. 60 minutes: $60. Students must have in house equipment.
How did you get started teaching?
Back in 1977 upon graduating the Berklee College of Music in Boston I was offered a job immediately. I accepted and have loved it ever since!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as 5 years old up to adult. Drum set, snare drum, concert percussion. Graduate level students to beginners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I brought my students to an outdoor festival in Apex where we played all original compositions on hand drums. In addition my students enter county wide competitions where they are very successful, placing in the top 5 areas of percussion.
