At Sonorous Road we hope to inspire you to become a complete artist. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and safe environment where artists can unleash their creativity and grow stronger as people. Whether you want to learn about acting, directing, costume and makeup design, or the technical aspects of filmmaking, we hope to support you on your journey.
The Artistic Director, Michelle Murray Wells, has an extensive background in Acting and Acting Coaching through experiences working and teaching in Virginia, Boston, London, and now Raleigh, NC. Michelle holds a Bachelors in Theatre from Meredith College in Raleigh and a Masters in Theatre Education from Emerson College in Boston. She has also studied and trained under renowned acting teachers such as Kristen Linklater, Peter Kelley, Ken Cheeseman, and others.
We love helping people of all ages and experience levels find their creative voice and unlock their potential not just as artists but as people. Training in the arts is an incredibly rewarding experience that teaches you about teamwork, discipline, empathy, vulnerability, communication, and so many other things.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All private coaching is highly customized based on the needs of the student. Whether you are preparing for an audition, looking to improve your skills in a particular area, or you want to undergo a full-scale acting training program like the Meisner curriculum, we can tailor the lessons to meet those needs.
We also provide training to small businesses and teams in the area of teamwork, communication, dealing with conflict, etc using acting and improv techniques.

Bachelors in Theatre from Meredith College (Raleigh, NC)
Masters in Theater Education from Emerson College (Boston, MA)
Training and apprenticeships under Kristen Linklater, Ken Cheeseman, Peter Kelley, Louise Osborne, and many others.

Private coaching is $60/hr. Group classes are available as well - availabilty and pricing can be found on the website (https://www.sonorousroadstudio.com) under the "Classes" section.
Private group lessons are also availble - please contact us for a custom quote.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always been passionate about education and began my career as an Elementary and Middle School Theatre teacher. I've also taught History and Geography at the High School and Community College level but ultimately decided to focus my efforts on my true passion of film & theatre acting and performance.
