Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with a one-on-one where we discuss your goals, talk about your favorite kinds of music, movies, general intersts, and get to know each other. Once I know what you want to achieve, I customize a beginners lesson program based on YOU!
For the younger students, I have taught guitar strumming through superhero themes, I often dawn my Darth Vader helmet when teaching those dreaded scales, and we'll even shred those power chords with the almighty power of the Infinity Gauntlet!
And for those students headed for the stage, we take the time to focus on the fundamentals of your chosen instrument, and use unique techniques and exercises through songwriting and theory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the drums for 30 years, of which I spent the first ten training in the private school system and partaking in the award winning concert, jazz and marching bands. I studied stick technique and control, rudimentary exercises, reading, and theory.
I am a self taught guitar player that learned through guitar tablature, and ultimately through my very own songwriting. I have spent 20 years learning guitar theory, chord progressions, picking and strumming styles, scales, and how to write my own songs.
Additionally, I have over 25 years of performance experience playing large music halls, bars, restaurants, birthdays, and parties.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer half hour lessons for $27 per lesson, and an hour is $40.
How did you get started teaching?
I initially got my start working for a local franchise school, The School of Rock in Providence, RI. I fell in love with their method of teaching through the song, and the push to get the students playing together in their very own bands.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages. From a 5 year-old looking to strum a guitar, to an aspiring 67 year old songwriter!
