Thanks for checking out my profile! My name is Ava, and I have taught violin to students of all ages for over a decade. I aim to create a supportive and enjoyable environment and provide individualized strategies for students to approach new skills. In my teaching, I find a balance of student-led creativity, technical foundations, and literacy in music theory and history. I have degrees in violin performance from Boston University and Lynn Conservatory and perform professionally as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician.

Resonance School of Music, founded in 2011, is a boutique music studio located in Sewell, New Jersey, and surrounding areas. Known for their unique community approach to music education, Resonance provides lessons across various instruments, including voice, piano, guitar, percussion, strings, and woodwinds. The school encourages students to participate in extracurricular classes and performance opportunities to enhance their musicianship and character. Resonance's instructors are professionals that include college professors and members of professional orchestras, ensembles, and touring groups.

We provide a very high quality music education at very reasonable prices. All our teachers are experts in their instruments, and have had many years of teaching experience. Our students win competitions, and many are accepted into major conservatories and music schools. Our studios are equipped with grand pianos, and we have a large concert auditorium with a Steinway grand piano, where students perform several times a year.

Dongyoung Jake Shim gained international recognition most recently winning a prize at the 2022 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition in Zhuhai, China. After winning 1st Prize and Bach Prize at the 2020 Stulberg International String Competition in Michigan, United States, he won a prize at the 2020 Irving M. Klein International String Competition in San Francisco, United States. Dongyoung was also one of the Laureates at the 2020 J. S. Bach Competition.
