The American International Art Center provides an international platform for artists and students to engage in artistic dialogue.

I am a professional cellist with more than 20 years of performing experience and teaching professionally for more than 10 years. I completed my Master of Music at Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Music with a scholarship. Additionally, I received a Professional Studies Diploma which is the highest level of performance at The New School Mannes School of Music which is a top conservatory in New York with scholarship as well.

I am performing with top orchestras at the notable concert venues in the US every year, such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as both soloist and principal cellist with various orchestras. Now I am the principal cellist of The Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, I presented and produced my own charity recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall with not only classic music with piano but also trios with Chinese traditional instruments for the world premiere pieces which composed by the famous Chinese composers. All the proceeds of the concert are donated to UNICEF. My charity concerts tour spread across more than a dozen states and cities of the US. I have been interviewed and reported by newspapers, magazines, news, TV programs and other media at home and abroad.

I’ve been learning cello with Meixu for two years. Meixu is a very nice teacher with logical teaching strategy. She always encourages me to challenge myself. I enjoy learning with her.

Meixu is a highly accomplished cellist and she is an excellent teacher for students of any age and experience level. She teaches her students how to practice efficiently while getting the most possible enjoyment out of their playing. She also shares her love of music with her students and motivates them to practice and play their very best. Wonderful teacher. Highly recommend.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

For children beginner students, I will start with the book of String Builder Book 1, Essential Elements for Strings - Book 1 for cello, Suzuki cello school Book 1 and so on.

For adult beginner students, I will start with the book of Klengel Technical Studies for cello, Suzuki cello school Book 1, Schroeder 170 foundation studies for cello Book 1 and so on.

We will start with the left and right-hand posture, how to make a quality sound of open strings, sitting posture, music sight readings, intonations, ear training, music theory and so on.

For intermediate and advanced level students, we can work together for a higher level of technical studies like scales/double stops/trias and so on. Also with etudes, small pieces, sonatas and concerto.
