About
Hey Guys, My name is Greg and I have been playing and teaching drums for over 15 years. At that time I was in marching band, jazz and orchestra as well as my own band and still am in a band to this day.
Teaching is something that I'm extremely passionate about and started at 15 years age. Beinging my first year in marching band I was tasked with a mission that almost seemed impossible and almost ruined the entire season for the midland park marching band. I was voted marching band member of the year for being able to teach 7 people who never played drums to execute a very difficult catalog of songs leading them to second place for best drumline performance at the NJ state championship marching band competition at giant stadium. This isn't to brag, this just tells you a bit about my dedication to teaching.
What I can teach is a discipline in taking the time to really learn the craft and make it fun as this is what it should be.
My dedication is in giving students the confidence in themselves by recognizing what they can play and see for themselves they're capable of being great if they want to be.
Depending on what level the student is at I will tailor each lesson to fit those needs. For me, playing in a band was the most important aspect of learning music as it taught me to learn how songs are written and composed.
This allowed me to streamline my ability to understand what's most important for the song. This may not be the same for everyone , however, it will get you playing much quicker.
Whether it's just jamming out and having fun (which is the whole point) theory and learning the art of drumming will help in many facets of your brain development and the by product of this is it will pay a life time of dividends regarding overall focus in anything you do.
It literally saved me at a young age and gave me the belief I needed in myself to be a confident individual in everything I pursue.
No matter what, it will do the same for anyone at any age.
Drumming and learning an instrument is exciting and a very rewarding art to learn.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start out by finding the potential players' natural sense for rhythm with a series of sticking combinations. I will then have the student warm-up with a series of these sticking patterns, then followed by learning beats that are staples in laying the foundation down to become a great beat keeper. We then apply the sticking patterns that are rudiments and use those patterns for fills within the beats we're learning. From there, I like have the student convey what their favorite drummers are and start showing them pieces of that drummer drum parts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was drum captain in Midland Park High School Marching band and band member of the year.
My drum teacher left the band durning mid band camp and I was the only educated drummer and most well versed in everything. I taught 7 students who never played drums how to play and that year we came in second place at our biggest competition at giant stadium.
I am a multi instrumentalist and write and produce my own music that is out on all media platforms and have been playing out since I was 16 years old.
I have been teaching for over 15 years.
