Blair Cagney Voice Studio
About
I'm a professional opera singer who has been studying voice and opera for 10 years. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. While at Manhattan School of Music, I have performed the title role in Emmeline and the leading soprano role of Susanna in I Due Figaro. I have worked with major professionals in the industry such as Tobias Picker, George Manahan, Dona D Vaughn, Thaddeus Strassberger, and Brad Moore. My extensive experience on the stage and years of training allow me to pass on up-to-date and professional advice to my students. I am still constantly learning more about the human voice and learning more about music as a whole through research, practice, lessons, coachings and classes. Because music is my craft, profession, and joy, teaching voice is a natural route for me and something that I thrive in.
Music is an aural tradition. It is impossible to learn how to sing or play an instrument from a book alone. Music is made with people and passed down through generations. As a singer who has learned so much from the singer preceeding her, I believe that it is my duty as a singer to pass along my knowledge. And it is an honor to be apart of a never-ending chain!
The main thing I love about teaching is watching a student succeed. If I can make a change in a student's ability, talent, happiness or life, then I truly feel fufilled.
