Paul Palmintere is a long-time Tango Veteran from Southern California, and is among the most highly qualified of Tango instructors. Tango has been Paul's entire life; see his website: www.TangoInVegas.Com. He was among the first people in the USA to take up Tango, and was a founder of the large Los Angeles Tango Community, way back in 1986. He brings over 31 years of training & experience to this dance, and has been a major instructor since 1994. He has trained extensively with a great many of the most famous instructors of Buenos Aires. Incredibly, he has now had over 100 teachers himself, over the past 31 + years. A highly experienced and respected teacher, who emphasizes good Tango dance technique and basics & fundamentals, Paul is well-remembered for his pioneering classes throughout Southern California: Hollywood, Burbank, Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, Redlands, San Bernardino, Palm Springs, and now Las Vegas & Henderson in Southern Nevada.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We spend a lot of time on tango dance technique: drills & exercizes, walking & crossing, pivoting & chain steps, music & timing, basics, & fundamentals, history of tango, social customs for dancing at the "milongas" (tango dance parties), and much more. This will be everything a student needs to get started.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had over 31 years of constant, ongoing, long-term training, beginning in 1986. Incredibly, I have had over 100 teachers during these past 31 years, including the most famous tango instructors from Buenos Aires.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Not really standard. My classes are multi-hour boot camps, workshops, and "practicas" (studio practice sessions for tango). My "Sunday Tango Beginners' Boot Camp" is 3 hours. My "Monday Intermediate & Advanced Tango Workshop" is 2 hours. And my "Wednesday Tango Practice Night" is 3 hours. My Sunday & Monday classes cost $20 cash per person; my Wednesday "practica" costs $15 cash per person. I now offer a Volume Discount Tango Class Card that will save students money: a 10-class card for $150 (cash) or $160 (check). My private lessons are now $90 (cash) or $100 (check) per hour. In a private lesson, I can accommodate 1 single lady or 1 couple (1 leader + 1 follower); however a single gentleman will have to bring a lady to take the lesson with him.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a diligent and serious tango student back in 1986 in Hollywood and Los Angeles. I had access at that time to exceptionally well-trained experts, a rarity for those early years. But in 1994 our teachers were relocating to other states, and I was widely acknowledged to be the next-best person to teach in Southern California, and so I began a career that allowed me to teach over a vast geographic area in Southern California, and now in Las Vegas & Henderson in Southern Nevada.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had hundreds & hundreds of students since 1994, and them include everything from childred to senior citizens, and every imaginable group in between. They have included professional dancers, and people who have never danced before.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In recent years, quite a number of my students have recommended me to their friends. They have greatly enjoyed my teaching, and so have spread word about my classes. "Word of Mouth" has been the most rewarding advertizing for me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pay particular attention to the teachers' past training and teaching experience. Do not be afraid to ask questions about teachers' background.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Argentine Tango involves long-term training, on a regular & weekly basis. Students should be sure if they really have the time & resources to engage in long-term training. Also, do they like the music and the dance itself?
