Steppers West Associates

Steppers West Associates, Inc. (SWA), is the Dance and Dance Event Company extension of Healthy Choice Enterprise, Inc, a professional Non-profit organization formed to provide health and fitness programs, and wellness information to the community. Our programs include a weekly adult dance for exercise classes, monthly workshops, and an annual Dinner Dance Gala. Our mission is to enhance the quality of our community’s health by providing education and fitness events, thereby increasing wellness and social interaction benefits.

We teach “Chicago Steppin” as an exercise outlet. The Dance, together with the Health and Education components, construct a whole package for people to attain a healthy lifestyle. Chicago Steppin is a 6 count urban swing dance, preformed to smooth sexy music, covering multiple genres and taught on an 8 count pattern. We encourage comfortable clothing and comfortable fitting flats or very low heeled shoes for ladies; and both ladies and mens shoe soles should be smooth. Leather is preferable.

The organization was formed in 2008, and is directed by Zakeeyaw Toney, RN. She began classes in the Las Vegas, NV. area and has preformed in cities across the country. Zakeeyaw is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, an Aerobic and Fitness Association of America Certified Instructor for 29 years and a Registered Nurse for 22 years. She has worked successfully to develop and promote result driven health and wellness programs that people continue to request and participate in.

When students that I've taught execute dance movements appropriately, convey health information they've learned, or express joy from their experiences with our organization, I have satisfaction in a well done job.
