The students I teach learn and improve. I have been teaching many students for over 15 years. They went from beginners to league players. I work with all levels of players from beginner to advanced, kids or adults. Tennis is a sport for life.
I enjoy the process of someone learning or improving their skill level while enjoying the sport of tennis. I have been teaching tennis for over 30 years. I coached at the college level and presently coach at the High School level. I played in college. I am certified by the PTR, at the Professional level.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I try to keep it simple. First, I find out what they want to achieve from their lesson. Then I evaluate where they are. Then I may make corrections or suggestions for them to get where they want to be. I do this in a very specific way showing them exactly how to acheive their goal. Then we work on it and practice it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified by the PTR, professional level. I played in college. I have 30 years of teaching / coaching experience. I coached college tennis for 10 years. I presently coach High School Tennis.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching tennis while I played in college as a way to make some extra money.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with a couple of students who went on to play on the WTA and ATP pro tours. I have coached a few kids who went on to get college scholarships. I have worked with many kids and got them to the level where they could play on their high school team. I have worked with adults from the 2.5 level to the 5.0 level. I work with some adults who are in their 60's and 70's.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Take a lesson with 2 or 3 pros to decide who is the best fit for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would find out a little bit about the teacher and their experience. Ask who they have taught with similiar needs to your own. And what happened to that student.
Also , really know why you are there. What is the specific reason you want a lesson. Make sure you have realistic expectations. And how much time are you willing to put in to acheive your goals.
