About
Hello! My name is Lauren Jaeger and I have been a professional dancer and teacher for over 17 years. I believe that dance is an art everyone should be able to experience. My classes focus on healthy technique as well as the catharsis of movement.
Dancing has always been a kind of therapy for me. It has allowed me to express myself when I feel shy, grieve when I am sad, celebrate when I am happy, and lift my spirits when I am feeling down. It has kept me in shape for my entire life, and allowed me to slow down and focus on myself when I have been overwhelmed.
When the pandemic began, I created a series of classes called "Mini Movement Breaks" for people (dancers and non-dancers) to get up and move for 15-30minutes. My clients come from all different backgrounds, but agree that these classes help to brighten their day, and keep their bodies and minds active.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to get to know them a little. I start out with a variety of exercises/combinations ranging in difficulty. This helps me to determine an appropriate level for a starting point. Then we progress at the learning rate of the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated magna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in dance performance and a concentration in ballet.
I have performed professionally with numerous ballet, modern, and contemporary companies over the past 17 years. Some of these companies include Buglisi Dance Theatre, MOMIX, and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company.
I have been teaching ballet, pointe, modern, and creative movement since 2002. My students have ranged in age from 1.5yrs to 90yrs, and vary from recreational dancers, to professional dancers.
