About

Welcome to the Vincenzo Catarisano voice studio! My goal is to explore what makes your voice unique. I tailor my techniques to the individual and create a positive and safe environment to build a foundation. I offer training that builds good practice techniques and healthy vocal philosophies.

Having overcome vocal difficulties myself, I am passionate about sharing the knowledge and skills I have acquired with my students and passing along the keys to success. I believe that the principals of classical training can be applied to all genres at any level and these teacings can apply to any style music. Newcomers to singing are especially welcome!

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I am especially sesitive to members of my community and enjoy teaching people with non-tradiontional vocal expressions.

Vincenzo helped me to get to know my voice and control it much better. I can reliably reach certain pitches and intonations because of techniques and styles he taught me. He has very creative approaches and was able to adapt to my learning style. He made me feel very empowered to interpret specific songs I brought to work on, and suggested certain standards to practice things that were challenging to me. I highly recommend Vincenzo for all types of different styles and reasons for learning. I feel so much more prepared to sing at a gig, for friends and for recording since taking lessons with him, and I know hell be my go to when Im working on new projects!

Vincenzo really takes the time to understand your voice (its strengths as well as areas for improvement.) Vincenzo organizes our lessons around developing good techniques for breathing and playing with the strengths of my voice to aid in the weaker areas. He’s great at helping you visualize and understand how your instrument works and what can be practiced and improved upon to make singing healthy, easy, and impactful! I love working with Vincenzo I feel like I’ve known him for years!

Frequently asked questions

I ask new studens to bring something they are comfortable singing and we will explore from there. I like to get to work right aware with the fundementals of breath work and finding your central tone aka. your true voice! I like to build an individualized technique over the course of the first few lessons as we discover together what works best for you and your development.

I am a native of Rochester, NY and first began my classical studies at the Eastman Community Music School. From there, I went on to study voice at the New England Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Mezzo-Soprano D’Anna Fortunato. After receiving his BM, I furthered my studies with Professor Robert Swensen from the Eastman School and attended the Neil Semer Vocal Institute in Coesfeld, Germany.  I curently continue my vocal studies today under tenor Jack Livigni and Bass-Baritone Matthew Anchel.

I am a lyric tenor specializing in 19th and 20th century romantic repertoire. In addition to my operatic career I perform regularly in New York City’s cabaret scene where I have an ongoing residency. My cabaret shows are cowritten with composer Matthew Ricketts and showcase a blend of opera, golden age musical theater, classical art song, and American songbook. So I am fmailiar with a rnage of musical styles and how to best express them!

I have worked with all types of students from those who have never had a voice lesson before to those that have been studying for years. Many of my students are pop singers who are looking for the fundementals of classical training. I especially love teaching beginners!

Don't get discouraged! Good singing takes a lot of patience from both student and teacher and improvemnt can be gradual at times.

All I need to know are your goals!
