dancer she is the best teacher for you

heard about HilliArts through word of mouth and I have to say I have not regretted one
lesson! What an amazing turn-around my daughter has done. I cant wait to see how much
more she progresses. Private lessons are all worth it!

a person. She teaches in a way that makes you push yourself past your limit. In her private
lessons, Ms. Lisa works on your specific problem areas so that you can continue to grow as
a dancer. She teaches with tough love, but always maintains a family environment.
Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will always discuss where the student has trained (while warming him\her up) and look to continue their lessons from the point closest to his\her demonstrated level (ie- beg, adv beg, int - etc...).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied dance in 2 dance studios- Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center and Gloria Jackson Dance Studio.
I have taught dance in 3 major dance studios in Queens, NY before brancing out on my own.
My teaching and choreography won the 2008 International Dance Challenge (IDC Dance Competition) along with Best Choreography and Best Emotional Execution.
How did you get started teaching?
I begain teaching 25 years ago as my dance teacher began my steps at a young age.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have had no dance training, minimal to intermediate dance training and have improved their abilities. I have also worked with athletes who needed dance for agility and successfully transformed them to be performance ready as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of the callbacks my students have recently recieved for The Lion King AND STOMP - both on Broadway.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you do not get too attached to accolades as I have seen many amazing teachers come out of small dance studio training.
