Under the direction of Svetlana Caton and Venti Petrov, Long Island students have the opportunity to acquire a high standard of technique and artistry.
Our program corresponds to the Russian Classical School (Vaganova Academy). It is comprised of students, ages 4 to 19. Formal classical training begins at level III, ( approximately age 7 or 8 ) .
All of our students who have formally studied with us for 6 years and more and have progressed into the top advanced level have gone on to dance professionally and/or have received scholarships in lead universities not only in Dance but in other subjects (Liberal arts and Science) as well.
Lumiere Ballet was founded in 1994.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The student is invited for a free evaluation and interview. According to age and level the student is placed in the appropriate class and the registration takes place.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our faculty consists of two master teachers, nationally and internationally accredited and one assistant teacher.
Svetlana Caton, formerly with the Royal Ballet in Belgium. has worked with artists of various ballet styles but her own performing and teaching career mainly reflects Russian classicism in its purest form. Her professional performing and teaching career spans over 35 years throughout Long Island, Manhattan and Connecticut. She also taught French, Russian and Latin in Secondary Public and Private schools.
Venti Petrov, ballet master and choreographer. Is an international medalist from the Bulgarian National Ballet. Acclaimed as "Extraordinary Ballet Artist", he has created two original historic ballets, released ballet CD and instructional DVD.

How did you get started teaching?
Lumiere Ballet opened in West babylon in 1994.
Prior to this date Svetlana Caton has thaught in various schools and ballet centers in manhattan and Long island.
What types of students have you worked with?
Healthy sudents with desire to learn and whose parents appreciate the value of giving the child a classical founation in dance.

Every event is important and joyful.
Our classesm, our performance of the Nutcracker ballet at the Maguire Theater. our Summer gala at Tanner Park in Copiague, our appearance at various function such as performing in West Point in 2011 and a fundraising Gala for "Long island Against domestic Violence", Performance at Public libraries, School Assembly Programs etc...
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check the credentials of you teacher(s). prepare yourself for honest work and love what you do.
