How did you get started teaching?
My first drum teacher referred me a teaching job at Hartman Music Studio in West Hempstead when I was 18. I've been teaching ever since and loving it!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with all types of students from beginner to advanced. from age 4 to 64.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every gig I play is an event. My favorite local gig is the NYCB Theatre in Westbury (formerly know as Westbury Music Fair). I play there every year with Almost Queen. Last November's show was Sold-Out!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't settle for a teacher that allows their lessons to become boring and unexciting. This may make you lose interest in the instrument. If this happens, move on to another teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do you have the time to learn an instrument? It's all about practice! The more time you are willing to devote to practicing, the quicker you will get better, and better, and better, and better, and better, and better, and ..... you get the picture!
