Sofia B. says, "He was always very patient with me. I learned how to play the flute from him in our church band. I started when I was in highschool. I often had trouble with sight reading the notes so when I messed up it, It felt frustrating but each time I felt it was ok because of his patience and his focus on making sure I'd get the music down. He was always clear on the lessons and efficient even when I'd get distracted. I have ADHD and I'm often a very nervous person with anxiety, so I'd often get off track or very embarrassed from the frustration ...which made me mess up more. But often enough I didn't have to feel that way or when I did it went away fast because I didn't feel the need to rush my brain to accommodate or adjust to what I thought he would think of me. He made lessons engaging, fun and taught me a lot about how to play the flute and about music theory. Reading music paper and such is almost like learning a new language, but he made it entertaining and clear. Each lesson, I felt, was like our own little safe space to mess up as much as I did until I got the music right. It also didn't make me feel so nervous when I did mess up in a performance because I knew what he'd say. It helped with my confidence in performing and in my flute playing in general." Read more

My teaching approach: For "absolute beginners" I start with note reading, chord playing, proper fingering, basic music theory, and playing simple songs. Material is presented in a graded fashion so the student's learning is enhanced. For intermediate to advanced students I begin sight reading studies, advanced chord playing, scales, improvisation, theory, ear training and more complex songs. Influences include the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Chet Atkins, George Van Eps, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others. My guitar lessons take place in: The 520 Eight Avenue, NYC, or the student's home. Barry P. says, "Hey, Allyson, Super to hear from you. I hit the "going in an other direction" button by accident. I'm actually quite fine at the moment. I haven't been on the immunotherapy for over a month now and I still have another couple of weeks to go before I have to start up again. The tumor has remained the same in some spots but has shrunk in other places which the Doctors are pleased with. However, Cancer has remission/regression cycles so what is is what is! Maybe I'll be strummin' the old mandolin again soon. Dr. Barry" Read more

David is an amazing teacher! I've been working with him since 2019, first on electric bass, then music theory/composition/Logic and electric guitar. We've done in person and online classes, both of which have been great. He's incredibly knowledgable and patient. Anyone would be lucky to learn from him.

He's a great teacher: encouraging, but also knows when and how to critique and not discourage a beginner. Makes sure it is challenging, but not overwhelming. Encyclopedic knowledge of jazz and music theory. Definitely recommend!

If you're interested in it, he's very good with theory, which will help you become a musician, not just learn chords, etc. by rote. I think this really sets him apart. He is also very patient.

I have been getting guitar lessons with Bryan for over two years. As a forty something year old, who can be very stuck in his ways, Bryan has been abundantly patient with my slow learning process. He is thoroughly knowledgable of the guitar, adapts to my learning curve, finds real life examples that helps move me along in the right direction. So very thankful I decided to go with Bryan as my teacher. He does the music world good simply being the kind of teacher he is.
