About

What makes makes me excited is the learning and development process. Students willing to understand the basics of acting and stage prescence are going to be successful. There has to be a solid foundation to build other skills on. Once this occurs, if anything happens during a performance, i.e. missed cues, missed lines, etc. then the actor with authentic tools can deal with any situation artistically and professionally.

My enjoyment comes with working with students and embarking on a journey of discovery...talent, range, style, timing and skills the student may have not known they had.

Each person who has a passion for acting is in many ways is a creative production in process. Like a play, they are concieved, developed, offered to an audience, recieve applause and accolades and is elevated to a bigger and better lifestage. I love discussing what is the underlying lesson in every part, and the connection it makes to being a more informed actor and person.

    Frequently asked questions

My approach is to interview the student first via resume, if one is available.  If not, I will submit them to brief questionnaire to assess what the students' interests are. If the student is not of legal age and has parents or other legal guardian, I insist on talking to all parties to assess the level of support, the student's eduational and career goals, level of commitment and specific areas of interest. Once this process is completed, then a work program for specific length of time is developed. It's important to note that lessons will take place in a public place, like a library, community center, etc., or via zoom.  I do not give lessons in anyone's home.

Please note: The format here doesn't allow my resume to posted as I copied it. Please contact me to recieve it in it's proper form.  Thank you.

My pricing system is basically fee for service model, with a minimum of two hours.  My time is compenated for developing the work program/ curriculum, actually working with the student on the acting process and giving any special assignments for increasing their knowledge of the art form they're pursuing. Education may include production/technical knowledge, performance art, stage direction and terminology, and front of house management.

This is something that started right after college, by working with the theatre department and incoming students, whenever I wasn't invloved in a production.  Part of my job responsibilities at Playhouse Square Center was theatre education.  Perfoming and teaching are activities that I've always enjoyed.  A rule of thumb in my household as mandated by my father was, "whatever you learn in life, learn it well enough to be to teach someone else."

Types of students I've worked with are those of various backgrounds, with a commitment to learn and who have the inclination to learn more and understand the odds of succeeding at this craft.  My students in the past mostly, were of a younger demographic as well as older adults looking for a fun artistic activity.  I'll work with anyone who wants to learn the fundamental strategies of theatre arts.

Working with teachers on an Easter and Christmas program at my local church.  The response of the congregaton, parents and youth was overwhelming.

Be serious. Be on time. Be a person of your word.  Be realistic.

Refer to my earlier statement regarding their educational and career goals.  The basic questions they need to answer for themselves are; "What do I want?, why do I want it?, and what will I do to achieve it?"
