We Make Learning Fun!
Welcome to Accent: Wendy’s School of Dance, the longest running dance studio in Centerville. We provide training, technique, and coordination skills by qualified teachers in a "fun" atmosphere, for both the recreational and serious minded dancer. Our goal is to promote confidence and good self-esteem, present a sound foundation of dance skills, and give our students an opportunity for artistic expression.
It is great to spend my whole life doing what I love and be able to share that with thousands of other people.
My goal is to encourage a love of dance and an appreciation for learning correct dance fundamentals in an environment where each person is encouraged to be creative, feels safe to make mistakes, and is praised for their efforts.
To inspire and motivate my students, through their education in dance, has been and is one of my great joys in life.

How did you get started teaching?
Miss Wendy began dancing at the age of 2 1/2. As her love for dance grew, she began studying different styles and techniques both near and abroad. As a young dancer she competed in toe, tap, and jazz solo competitions. At age 9, she had an agent and was performing professionally throughout the tri-state area. She had made over 50 television appearances by the age of 12.At a very early age, she realized that aside from her personal dancing she loved teaching others how to dance. What started out as a small activity in her parent’s basement became a dance studio in 1963, when she was just 14. As her studio grew, her desire to educate herself in dance techniques did also. Miss Wendy spent most of her summers at various dance studios in New York, California, Hawaii, and Ontario studying under famous choreographers. Now she is an award winning choreographer.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have classes for all ages starting at 3 yr old - Adult. We offer instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
Since 1963, we have offered dance instruction to Centerville, Washington Township, Dayton, Kettering, Bellbrook, Miamisburg, West Carrollton, Springboro, Beavercreek, Oakwood, and more. (Students from Cincinnati have even come to take weekly classes at Wendy's.)
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Accent Wendy's School of Dance recently celebrated our 54th Annual recital where we showcase our students and teachers hardwork. This is one of our favorite events because we love to see our students so elegant in costume and excited to perform on stage. We also enjoy seeing our dancers improvement and learning from the year in the studio come to life on stage through the various dances.
- In addition to our annual Recital in June, we also invite family members and friends to come into the classrooms and observe classes during designated “Visitors' Weeks.” This is a wonderful opportunity to see "close - up" what the students are learning and gives our dancers a small taste of performance.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When choosing a dance studio, consider the teachers years of experience and special relationship that the students have with their teachers, before location and price. Take time to read some reviews.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do you teach with positive reinforcement and proprioception teaching methods? (for more information on these topics, click the links on our home page)
