Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Students share their goals with me. The students start by stepping side together to music. I assess their rhythm skills, balance and range of motion. From there I will form an action plan to make progress towards their goals. The most important thing my students will learn is the joy of dancing. Dancing with me is a blast!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've found the most joy as an adult dancing and teaching swing, two step, line dance, cha cha, salsa, buchata, waltz and other forms in social dance clubs. I received a bachelor of fine arts in Dance from the Ohio State University. I've choreographed musicals and an electric opera. However , I started dancing ballet, tap, jazz and gymnastics when i was 7 years old. I knew then that I wanted to grow up to be a dance teacher. I assisted in the writing of a dance curriculmn to be taught in Columbus public schools grades K-12. After also becoming a certified Elementary teacher I taught Dance in public fine arts Elementaries and High schools. I performed professionally as a contemporary dancer. Trained at Fred Astair and Arthur Murray ballroom studios and both employed me. Dancing is my bliss. Can't wait to share it with you!
