About

We have over 20 years experience in social ballroom dancing and are conveniently located in downtown Troy, OH. Our services include group classes, private lessons, wedding choreography and we hold 2 dances a month that are open to the public. Our rates are very low and there are no contracts. We have learned from the best and we bring that experience to our classes.

We love to share our passion for dance with others. Ballroom dances are social events designed for a male and female partner to perform together as one, but also to interact with other couples on the dance floor. We take great joy in watching our students learn and grow in their dance ability.

We have been dancing for more than twenty years and have been teaching dance independently for ten years.  We continue to take dance instruction while teaching, having accumulated more than three hundred classroom hours at Brigham Young University.

We are able to keeps our costs low and that allows us to keep our prices low also.

One group class lesson (55 minutes) costs only $20 per couple.  Better yet, if you pay in full with the first class of the month, you get a 25% discount and pay only $60 per couple for all four classes.

Private lessons are only $50 per hour for one or two couples.  If you have a larger group (like a wedding party), each couple costs $25 per hour.

We began taking lessons in Troy, OH in 1998 and immediately fell in love with ballroom dancing.  The kids were old enough that we could leave the house for a couple of hours and that became our date night.  We soaked in all of the lessons we could from our teacher and, after about three years, became teaching assistants.  Meanwhile, we added lessons from other instructors tp broaden our own skills and different teaching styles.  Our first instructor retired and we aquired her business, changing the name to RJBallroom.

Our students have ranged in age from 14 to retired.  Most of our students, however, are empty nesters and are looking for a new activity to do together and to socialize around.  We also do wedding preparation, whether it's bride and groom, father and daughter, mother and son or the entire wedding party.

We were involved for several years with a local charity fundraiser based on the TV show "Dancing With the Stars", where the charity recruited local celeberities as the amateur dancers and we paired them with our advanced students as the pros.  We have trained and choreographed more than  fifty dance routines for those events.

We regret not starting sooner.  Don't be shy.  Step out of your comfort zone and be amazed and what you are capable of learning.

What type of dance interests you most?  Ballroom dancing always involves a partner.  Men and women learn theit respective roles in each dance figure.  There are other dance styles that don't necessarily need a partner such as line dancing, jazz, hip hop and contemporary.  We only teach the partner dances.

We also emphasize social dancing as opposed to competition.  If you are interested in competitive dancing, we would refer you to other studios that specialize in the rigorous training that you will need.
