I started coaching over 40 years ago. I have coached in Tball and continued coaching thru every level all the way to high school. During that time I attended several camps held by the Reds to learn more about each position, even though from Little League to High School I played every position. My main position was 3rd base. I’ve always loved the game of baseball and enjoyed coaching all ages. I learned a long time ago that it is more important to approach your game with the mental attitude it takes to get you thru slumps that will occur and to be able to face any diversities that can and will occur during competition. Because of that I balan

I have played baseball since I was a kid. My dad has been a coach his whole life and I want to follow in his foot steps. I have college education, I am very knowledgeable when it comes to baseball. I still play to this day. So I’m continuing to learn myself because there’s always more to take in with this game. I feel as I’d be a great fit for a coach, I’m personable, energetic, and competitive.

My name is Trey Carter and I love the game of baseball. I played at Wheelersburg High School in southern Ohio and went on to play 4 years at the University of Rio Grande, coached by retired Boston Red Sox scout, Brad Warnimont. In the summers during college I signed contracts to play in the Prospect League where I played amongst the best players/coaches in the country at the collegiate level. I pitched, played IF, OF, and hit all throughout my high school and college career. Sharing my knowledge of the game is my way of giving back what baseball has given to me.

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.
