I love seeing students' eyes light up when they get a concept that we have been working on and realize that they can play the exercise.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first lesson I like to spend some time finding out what kind of music the student likes to listen too, and determining their skill level. We then spend some time focusing on proper playing techniqe and discussing why it is important. I like to make sure the student enjoys their time in lessons and has fun while learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a batchelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of Toledo in Toledo Ohio, and a Master of Arts and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance and Literature from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. I also have more than 10 years experience teaching all ages, skill levels, and percussion instruments.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons cost $30/hour lesson and $18/half hour lesson. Traveling to students houses can be arranged too for an additional cost.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always felt like I connected well with people one on one. That is why I began teaching lessons during my undergrad degree. I have been teaching for more than 10 years and have always loved it. Every student learns differently and it keeps me thinking of new and exciting ways of teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had students of all ages, while beginners are most common, I have also taught students that were persuing undergraduate degrees in percussion. Also, I have taught Drum Set, Percussion, and World Percussion/Hand Drums.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I always enjoy watching the eyes of a student light up when a concept we have been working on clicks and they are able to play it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Always take some time to look at their qualifications and check out videos they have available or a live performance they are playing. Even if you do not have a background in music you will be able to tell if they have a mastery of their instrument.
