My 7th grader has been taking lessons with Aaron for about 9 months now and Im truly impressed with his percussive AND his teaching skills. I played snare in high school and held cymbals for the snare drum line in college that was mostly made up of guys from the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. I know the sound of a good percussionist and Aarons definitely got the skills! He is also very positive and encouraging of my sons goal of playing in the high school drum line. And he is very calm and patient when my son gets so frustrated with his inability to play something as well as he (my son) wants. My son has come a long way in his own playing under Aarons instruction. I just asked him if there was anything hed like to say about Aaron and he summed it up nicely, Hes awesome!

I had been looking for a drum instructor for my 6th grade son for months. So thankful I was referred to Aaron! He is experienced, patient, and fun. My son learned more in his first lesson with Aaron than he had in a year at school. He said, I actually learned a LOT! And it wasnt even boring at all!

    Frequently asked questions

In our first lesson I like to spend some time finding out what kind of music the student likes to listen too, and determining their skill level. We then spend some time focusing on proper playing techniqe and discussing why it is important. I like to make sure the student enjoys their time in lessons and has fun while learning.

I have a batchelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of Toledo in Toledo Ohio, and a Master of Arts and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance and Literature from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. I also have more than 10 years experience teaching all ages, skill levels, and percussion instruments.

Lessons cost $30/hour lesson and $18/half hour lesson. Traveling to students houses can be arranged too for an additional cost.

I have always felt like I connected well with people one on one. That is why I began teaching lessons during my undergrad degree. I have been teaching for more than 10 years and have always loved it. Every student learns differently and it keeps me thinking of new and exciting ways of teaching.

I have had students of all ages, while beginners are most common, I have also taught students that were persuing undergraduate degrees in percussion. Also, I have taught Drum Set, Percussion, and World Percussion/Hand Drums.

I always enjoy watching the eyes of a student light up when a concept we have been working on clicks and they are able to play it.

Always take some time to look at their qualifications and check out videos they have available or a live performance they are playing. Even if you do not have a background in music you will be able to tell if they have a mastery of their instrument.
