About this pro

I am a 22 year old drummer who has been playing since he was 4. I have been ever so fortunate to have toured the country, played for MANY outstanding artists, played on nationally televised talk shows (jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers) as well as also playing on NPR Tiny Desk. I play jazz, funk, rock, fusion, hip hop, pop, country, Latin music, Latin jazz, and many more; I have a very diverse range of music styles to choose from, as well as avenues for learning within those styles. I have the knowledge and skill to be able to give key advice on steps necessary to take in order to reach that level.

from an educational standpoint, I graduated in 2017 with my Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance under the PSU school of music. I have advanced theory knowledge as well, so a drummer looking to learn notes is something I am fully capable of doing. In my eyes, I think all drummers should have a basic understanding of the notes on the piano, as well as basic harmony

from a personal standpoint, I am a fun loving, easy going young man who loves to pass down information to people no matter what age. Although I may be young, I have a ton of knowledge and experience to pass on to those who are younger, and perhaps even older than me. You drive to me, I’ll drive to you, or we can set it up online! What ever is easiest for you.

I love passing on knowledge I have received from those who I consider greats, to people who are striving to have that similar form of mentor ship, guidance, and trust in someone who knows what they are talking about. It’s always great seeing someone succeed under the guidance and mentorship you bring forward musically

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to let the student give me some sort of insight as to what they are into regarding music, and outside of music as well. Once I have that, I then will start crafting a basic lesson plan specifically for that individual student based on what I know about their playing style, what they have told me in t terms of what they would like to learn. I find it very helpful going off of the students interests rather than my own. Some teachers give the kids the same plans and that may not work with every student.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

bachelors degree in jazz studies from Portland State University.
