Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a student is to assess what they are looking to achieve within the time frame allocated to learn the dance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained with many professional dancers within a 12 year span period. I've traveled to many Salsa congresses and have taken workshops from many instructors.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, I chargé $70 per hour for 1 student, or $90 for a couple (2 ppl).
Call me if you need additional pricing.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after many years of social dancing. Many people in my town didn't know how to dance Salsa and they would constantly ask if I could teach them. The requests became evident that there was a need for a class, this was the beginning of many.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught students from many different backgrounds and ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm fond of many events. The one that stands out the most is the culminating events for Dancing Classrooms which showcases 5th graders dancing ballroom.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to look for someone that is patient and kind that they feel comfortable with.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be able to ask any question they like to get a sense of what to expect during a lesson. The questions can range from what should they wear to how long will they take to learn the dance at a comfortable level etc.
