About
Director/instructor Leslie Baird is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Her students participate in annual RAD exams - part of an international accreditation process in 82 countries. Inspiring classes with focus on safe practice, technique, and artistry. Ages 4-Adults. Located in downtown Portland on the Max line and streetcar. Miss Leslie says:” My students want “real” ballet and they get that with a curriculum that is developmentally sound. A solid classical foundation which underpins coordination in sports and other performing arts, ballet is also good for brain development, discipline, agility, social development. Also, it’s really fun. Lots of personal attention in class helps the students achieve their skill and artistry goals. Many of my students are with me from age 4 through high school. I also have a passion for history and like to build my summer camps around history themes. Respect the art- enjoy the experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Currently working with Zoom classes, instruction is often individual. I ask for the student’s age and ballet experience and then determine the best starting level in our Royal Academy of Dance curriculum and go from there.
