What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to find out what kind of music and drumming style the student wishes to learn. My experience playing drums for all kinds of music means than I can easily adapt to any modern pop, rock, jazz, rnb, and world music styles.
I have traveled extensively collecting percussion from around the world. I do not use text books or read music, preferring to play and enjoy music by ear. Drummers in rock and pop bands do not need to read music.
