The performer, the theater piece, and direction should be full of imagination, intelligence and unencombered. As an actor, director, and deviser of theater I focus on discovering nuance and honesty in the work.
Metamorphosis Performing Company has been creating theater for over 30 years. I have taught theater on the college level as well as in public and private schools.
The performer needs technique to explore and create the character and sustain the performance. Actors need to be flexible to take direction and adjust to different director styles.
The actor needs to play with abandonment.
Discovering the unique qualities that the student has and helping to develop them.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with exercises where the actor must make decisions: pantomime, improvisation, using the body as an expresive instrument. All of this makes the actor think and at the same time get use to taking direction.
Monologues and scene work. Analyzing the text and understanding the use of actions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor of fine arts and master degree in theater.
I have studied movement theater under Tony Montanaro at Celebration Mime Theater in South Paris, Maine.
Directed and performed in traditional and new work.
Taught acting classes at Bucknell University for 12 years
Guest artist for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts doing residencies in public and private schools for over 20 years.
