EWD Acting For The Stage
About
I have almost 40 years of experience as an actor, director, teacher and dialect coach.
I have done the classics as well as new works, comedy and drama.
I love delving into a character and helping fellow artists create.
6/29/19 = I've missed a few folks lately--please circle back. ipromise to be more prompt.
It is so wonderful to explore a play with actors and discover what makes the characters tick. I love helping performers challenge themselves and create 3-dimensional characters that resonate with audiences. As a performer, I always try to build on past work and go places I haven't gone before so I can grow as an artist. I want a director who's collaborative, but who pushes me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to chat, get to know people, what they feel their strengths are and what they want to work on. I also like to discover their learning style, so I can tailor my approach axxordingly.
My approach is very encouraging and positive--I don't believe in tearing people down. I think the fact that I am an actor myself is a great asset, I get it. I have been a director since 1990 and I have ha number actors return to work with me 2 and 3 times. I feel very honored by that.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken several classes at the historic 96 year old Hedgerow Theatre (for many years the only true U. S. professional repertory theatre) and People's Light Theatre--founded by members of Hedgerow's rep company in 1974.
