I have played guitar for 36 years and studied music theory and performance at the McNally Smith College of Music. I performed for many years in the Los Angeles area before returning to South Dakota. I work with students of all ages in the comfort of their home and use original materials along with textbooks. My approach is to get them playing instantly to take away the fear of learning an instrument.
I really enjoy proving to a young student he or she can be a musician. The challenge is keeping them motivated between the very first lesson to the "ah ha" moment when it all comes together. On top of teaching guitar I spent eight years teaching English as a Second Language so I understand the difficulty of learning a brand new skill. But I also know the sense of pride that comes from hard work and dedication.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet with a new student for about 15 minutes before starting lessons. That way I can get a sense of goals, previous experience, and scheduling options. I then design a program specifically for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended the Mcnally Smith College of Music and have been teaching for more than 18 years. I performed in the Los Angeles area, Arizona, and continue to perform in South Dakota. I taught English as a Second Language for 8 years and developed a program of original ESL music called Radio ESL.
