Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I think its very important when taking on new students that a teacher should focus on getting the ground basics first, this way they feel comfortable going out and dancing in clubs or at events and weddings.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've had certification in Dance and judging for many years in many different dance styles and organizations!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Dance lessons run generally $65 to $75 for a 45 minute lesson!
How did you get started teaching?
I started dancing at the age of 20 and have been teaching since then! I started by taking lessons in a local club then going on to get my dance teaching certification! And then onto my judges certification!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students in all styles of dances from Ballroom, Country, Swing and Latin Dance to Line Dance and even doing Wedding choreography for wedding couples. I've even taught and competed with young adult and teen students! I have taught lessons to students from the ages of 10 on up to 80!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently did dance choreogrpahy for a wedding couple! They were such fun to work with and pulled off a great wedding dance! Also I recently attended and judge in Pisek, Czech Republic at the Czech Open Dance event which is probably one of my favortie events to attend!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look around and find an instructor that you feel comfortable with and that listens to what you want and need. Just because a price looks good doesn't alwasy mean its the best deal in town!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Time and affordability! Its a big cost and a bigger commitment when wanting to dance. It doesn't happen over night and for most people it can take months if not years to get as good as they want to!
