I have a passion and robust understanding of dance as a teacher, performer, and choreographer. With a master's degree in dance, certification in jazz dance, member teacher of the Texas Association of Teachers in Dancing, and over 10 years of experience, I am equipped to help any student reach their dance goals from having fun, to gaining confidence, to preparing for a professional career or event.
I most enjoy seeing my students daily successes, big or small, on their path towards their own dance goals and having the privilege of watching so many great friendships be formed from the love of dance.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to have a conversation to understand the students goals and get to know their learning style. Then, I create a customized training plan to help the student reach their goals. After review and agreeance with the student, we move forward with setting up lessons and then the fun begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master of Arts in Dance- Texas Woman's University
Minor in Dance- Baylor University
Certification in Jazz Dance- Texas Association of Teachers Dancing, Inc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private Lessons: $55 per hour
Partner Lessons: $70 per hour
Youth Group Lessons: $45-$65 per month (one 45 minute class per week)
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in middle school as a teaching assistant at my dance studio. The studio owner recognized my dance talent and gave me the opportunity to share that with the younger students. While I love performance, I have always been more thrilled about sharing the love of dance with others. I had the the pleasure of teaching under many great instructors growing up and I strive to bring the best qualities of each of them to my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages as young as 2 and as seasoned as 75. I have taught recreational students, pre-professional students, and community dance students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently my students completed a performance with a virtual audience and even though their family and friends were not in the audience, my students encouraged one another and cheered each other on in the same way their families would have during the performance. It is a fond memory of the relationship and family that is ever growing at Mena's Dance Xchange.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that makes you comfortable! Dance lessons can elicit a variety of emotions and working with a person you can trust is critical in your growth and overall satisfaction with the experience.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think through what they want to receive at the end of their dance lessons and any questions they may have. Asking questions will help in making the best decision on a dance teacher.
