Denton Dance Conservatory (DDC) has been serving the Denton & surrounding communities for 29 years. We offer beginning to advanced levels of ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe, hip hop, adult classes, working parents' schedule, and more to ages 4-Adult. Our faculty all have either degrees in dance or the professional equivalent and are nurturing and considered experts in their field. DDC dancers have several opportunities to perform throughout the year and also have the opportunity to audition for our resident non-profit performing company, the Denton City Contemporary Ballet. I'm Lisa Racina-Torre and I'm the owner/director of Denton Dance Conservatory. I founded the studio after graduating from Texas Christian University with a BFA in Ballet in 1988. In 1989, I founded our non-profit performing company the Denton City Contemporary Ballet, with is open to dancers, ages 11-Adult, who are interested in pre-professional training in the performing world of dance. Our studio participates in the annual holiday production, "A Gift for Emma," that I wrote and choreographed, now in it's 17th year; we perform at the COLLAGE Denton Dance Festival every year (I founded this festival in 1992); we also dance in the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival annually, as well as our own Recital Showcase each year. Our dance company, the Denton City Contemporary Ballet, has performed all over Austria with the Young Tanzsommer Dance Festival in 2011 & 2014, and will attend dance classes in New York City in June of 2017! Although many of our students have gone on to major in dance at highly respected universities and some on to professional dance careers, most of our students graduate from high school with a life-long respect for dance as an artform, life-long habits of physical exercise and well-being, and life-long friends! Our young dancers learn what it means to have a good work ethic, they learn compassion for others, they learn how to maintain their physical fitness, they grow with confidence and self-esteem, and they ALL know how to have fun dancing!!!
