About

I have many years of instruction, performing, and studio experience. Along with teaching students at many different experience levels, I also perform with Fort Worth-based indie rock band "The McGrath Project".

Below are some testimonials from former students:

"My name is Michael “Fro” Frowein and I have played drums professionally for over 40 years. I’ve been blessed over the years, from recording major record releases to touring the US and some of Europe and I owe a great deal of that success to my all-time favorite instructor Bruce Logan! I tried to take lessons from music store instructors, but I never felt I got the “personal” attention I needed. In that scenario, it felt like they were teaching a one size fit’s all curriculum and it was deflating and quite frankly boring! Then we found Bruce!! He took my goals and interests on the drums and created a “custom” curriculum for me and the light came on!

Bruce is an amazing drummer and incredibly knowledgeable. His teaching style is patient yet completely engaging and tailored to each particular student. He is a master at the different disciplines of drumming and he will help you lay the groundwork for a solid foundation. I’ve had many instructors over the years, but I’ve never come across another one like Bruce! He is, to this day, STILL one of my drumming heroes.

THANK YOU BRUCE!!!!!!!!!"

-Michael Frowein

"It's been my privilege to have Bruce Logan as my drum instructor for over a year. I thought I was an enthusiastic (adult) student, but my enthusiasm pales in comparison to his.

Bruce is a professional drummer with decades of performance and drum instruction experience - at all levels. His simple three-pilar formula of rudiments, reading and kit have supercharged my drumming on all dimensions. I'm a big fan and highly recommend Bruce to anyone who is looking to start, develop or perfect their drumming."

"I started taking lessons with Bruce when I was 15. I studied with him for a few years. I’m now 62 and play regularly in my area. I play in clubs, restaurants as well as with local musical theater companies.

I’ve taken lessons from a number of teachers over the years, and Bruce is one of the best.

He is not only a great teacher, but a killer player. Check him out on YouTube. You will see what I mean."

-Dean Cook

"I don’t remember a lot from when I was in 4th and 5th grade, but I do remember some of the fundamental percussion rudiments I learned from Bruce Logan."

-Bryan

Watching students progress and having fun playing music is a great source of joy and inspiration.

    Frequently asked questions

Understanding the student's goals and intentions are important to creating a lesson style that works best for them. Focusing on the rudiments is an important first step for all beginners. Every student is different but the fundamentals don't change.

My education experience started with concert band, marching band, Jazz band and pep band from junior high, high school and college. Over the past several years, I have played with many bands spanning a variety of genres. These experiences have given me several opportunities for a vast amount of performance situations.

Lessons at my home studio in Fort Worth are $48 for a one hour session. Within 25 miles of my home a house call that lasts one hour is $75.

Having performed often at a very young age, I was asked to give lessons by many students. I began teaching in 1977 and have had students carry on to professional careers performing and teaching as well.

I've helped students from seven years of age up to senior citizens learn to have fun playing the drums.

A good drum coach will not only require practicing every day but also make it fun as well. They will be able to ensure that the student is confident in the basics which opens more opportunities for creativity.

The main reason to learn how to play an instrument is for the love of music. If the reasons are for fame and fortune that only sets one up for disappointment. The gratification that comes from learning to play an instrument is the greatest reward.
