Barry is like an Actor’s genie, only I didn’t have to vocalize my wishes. He instinctively knew what I needed. He took a nontraditional approach and really mixed things up for me and that was what I needed to get out of my head. I appreciate his open and relaxed atmosphere — it allows for the actor to be open and relaxed (which is crucial). It’s obvious Barry knows his stuff, but he does not do things from the obvious vantage point... Barry can see beyond the obvious and help connect you with the character’s simplest human motivation. I’m grateful. He brought the fun back for me. Magical!!!

How did you get started teaching?

after completing my undergraduate theatre studies and working as a professional actor, writer and singer, I felt the calling to serve in the classroom. I taught speech, theatre and musical theatre for 21 years before pursuing acting full time😇

What types of students have you worked with?

I have coached a variety of students from children to adults-- Naturally gifted to those who simply loved the Arts- including successful students with special needs. several of my past students are enjoying great success as working actors, writers and producers in New York and worldwide. At this exact moment I have a student auditioning for his CALLBACK for Broadway's Dear Evan Hansen and the upcoming tour of Hamilton in lead roles!❤️

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love world travel and make it a point to stay current on Broadway, off Broadway, off off Broady, regional and community and educational theatre.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Search for a teacher who has your unique and best interests in mind! In my opinion, you should seek a coach who is a WORKING professional actor.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What will the coach require of me?

What professional work have you performed?

What are your favorite roles you have played?

What action plan should I take to promote success/ personal fulfillment as an actor?
