Jakie Cabe Acting Studio
About
I've been a professional actor, director, fight choreographer, and professor of acting in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex since 1994. I'm a tenured professor of theatre for Tarrant County College, a 25 year member of Actor's Equity Association, an eligible status performer with SAG/AFTRA, am represented for film, television, commercial, and voice over by the Kim Dawson Agency.
I believe that acting and understanding of the craft, and the human connection the craft embodies is one of the greatest ways of exploring and expressing empathy in our ever changing and divided world. And as my and many others' favorite quote goes: "Acting is living truthfully under imaginary circumstances." - Sanford Meisner

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Assess what the student's goals are professionally, personally, and time frame they are wanting to achieve the goals we set together. I will then assess what practices and techniques the student is more responsive to and begin a progression of methodology heightening the students' strengths. For example - if someone is more physically centered I may put some of the emphasis on Michael Chekhov technique and work on the "character body" and "psychological gesture." My typical process is getting the student to focus on the "other person" in a scene.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Theatre & Dance from Appalachian State University.
I have a Master's of Fine Arts in Acting from Louisiana State Univeristy.
I have studied with the Arthur Lessac Studio, Kristin Linklater's Shakespeare and Company, and The Fitzmaurice group.
I have been an instructor of acting for 26 years and it not only has been a fulfilling career but a way of thinking about navigating through life.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
In the new normal of Covid-19, I am very adept at teaching classes via Zoom or any online format.
For one on one Zoom classes $60 / hr. If you would like to set up a continual 10 session plan- $50 / hr.
Should we be able to move towards a one on one face to face situation I would have it be $75 / hr.
I could do class situations where we have 5 or more in a class for $40 / hr.
